FAQ

What is Innosite?

Innosite is a digital platform dedicated to the development of solutions to specific challenges in the construction industry. The development of solutions is carried out in an open innovation process which connects players with a need for innovation with people who have great ideas. The challenges are real problems submitted by a company or organisation in need of innovative solutions. The company or organisation will award a prize to the best solution to the challenge.

Why Innosite?

The aim of Innosite is to create and further develop an active innovation environment within the construction industry in Denmark and to promote dialogue across professions and industries. The platform is open for players within and outside the construction industry, allowing property developers and companies to invite tenders for development assignments, share ideas and provide inspiration for new innovation methods.

How does Innosite work?

When a company or organisation posts a new challenge on Innosite, we call it a contest.

A contest comprises of various stages from start to finish

The input stage

At the input stage, individuals or groups of people can come up with ideas and propose solutions to the contest challenge.

An idea must consist of a text describing the solution and different media such as images, video or similar illustrating the solution.

When you upload a proposal for a solution, it will be visible to other users of Innosite. You can comment on and assess the ideas and proposals put forward by other users at any time. Moreover, you are free to modify and improve your own idea right up to the deadline of the contest.

The jury stage

After the contest deadline, a jury will assess all proposals and ideas. The jury will typically be made up of representatives of the company or organisation behind the contest and one or more people with particular professional skills relating to the theme of the contest.

The prize-awarding stage

At the jury stage the best proposal for a solution is chosen. In some contests, just one winner will be chosen whereas in others prizes will be awarded to several winners in different categories.

In addition, a users’ choice award will always be presented to the idea rated as the best by the other members of the site.

Who can participate?

Anybody can participate and contribute to finding innovative solutions to the contest challenges.

In order to participate in the contests and be able to assess the ideas of other users, contribute your own solutions or comment on the ideas of other users, you need to register as a user of Innosite.

Companies which would like to set up a contest, should contact the Innosite team at Danish Architecture Centre. We shall then assess the content of the problem and decide whether it should be posted on Innosite. If you have a suggestion for a contest, please send an email to contact@innosite.dk.

The campaigns on Innosite deal with challenges in the fields of architecture, construction and planning. However, Innosite is not directed only at particular professional groups - anybody with great ideas and a desire to take part in an open innovation process is welcome to join.

What happens to the best proposals?

The best proposals are awarded a prize which will be different from one contest to another. Subsequently, the proposer of the winning entry will start a dialogue with the company behind the contest about realisation of the proposal in whole or in part.

The organisation setting up the contest and Innosite shall be entitled to publish and make mention of the award-winning proposals.

The organisation setting up the contest shall be entitled to use the award-winning proposals after negotiations with the owner of the proposal.

Following the conclusion of a contest, all negotiations on the terms and conditions for use of the ideas are conducted between the proposer and the contest initiator. Innosite plays no part in this process.

Who owns the ideas?

The proposers own their ideas, but all ideas may be published and mentioned on Innosite and by the contest initiator during and after the contest.
