Innosite is a digital platform dedicated to the development of solutions to specific challenges in the construction industry. The development of solutions is carried out in an open innovation process which connects players with a need for innovation with people who have great ideas. The challenges are real problems submitted by a company or organisation in need of innovative solutions. The company or organisation will award a prize to the best solution to the challenge.
The aim of Innosite is to create and further develop an active innovation environment within the construction industry in Denmark and to promote dialogue across professions and industries. The platform is open for players within and outside the construction industry, allowing property developers and companies to invite tenders for development assignments, share ideas and provide inspiration for new innovation methods.
When a company or organisation posts a new challenge on Innosite, we call it a contest.
The input stageAt the input stage, individuals or groups of people can come up with ideas and propose solutions to the contest challenge.
The jury stageAfter the contest deadline, a jury will assess all proposals and ideas. The jury will typically be made up of representatives of the company or organisation behind the contest and one or more people with particular professional skills relating to the theme of the contest.
The prize-awarding stageAt the jury stage the best proposal for a solution is chosen. In some contests, just one winner will be chosen whereas in others prizes will be awarded to several winners in different categories.
Anybody can participate and contribute to finding innovative solutions to the contest challenges.
To register as a user of Innosite, all you have to do is fill out your name and email address and upload a profile picture. Subsequently, you can add more profile information.
Begin by setting up a profile and then log in. You can now upload a new idea by clicking on the menu option "Upload idea".
You can see your ideas and modify them at any time on your profile page.
You upload an idea as a group in the same way as you would if you were the inventor of the idea yourself. On the upload page, click on "Upload as a group" and choose which other members are part of the group. Please note that all members of the group must be registered users of Innosite.
You can participate in a contest at various levels - from assessing the ideas of others with a quick click of your mouse to contributing a thoroughly worked through proposal for a solution yourself. Participation in a contest can thus take just a few minutes or several hours of work.
Companies and organisations which have a challenge or problem relating to architecture, construction or planning can use Innosite.
Companies which would like to set up a contest, should contact the Innosite team at Danish Architecture Centre. We shall then assess the content of the problem and decide whether it should be posted on Innosite. If you have a suggestion for a contest, please send an email to email@example.com.
Innosite was developed for and is funded by Realdania and the Danish Energy Agency. The day-to-day running of the website and facilitation of contests and offline activities are undertaken by Danish Architecture Centre.
The campaigns on Innosite deal with challenges in the fields of architecture, construction and planning. However, Innosite is not directed only at particular professional groups - anybody with great ideas and a desire to take part in an open innovation process is welcome to join.
After the contest deadline, a jury will assess all submitted proposals and ideas. The jury will typically be made up of representatives of the company or organisation behind the contest and one or more persons with particular professional skills relating to the theme of the contest.
The best proposals are awarded a prize which will be different from one contest to another. Subsequently, the proposer of the winning entry will start a dialogue with the company behind the contest about realisation of the proposal in whole or in part.
The proposers own their ideas, but all ideas may be published and mentioned on Innosite and by the contest initiator during and after the contest.
The team behind Innosite follows all contests closely. Our role is to facilitate a smooth innovation process by answering questions, solving any conflicts and fostering fruitful collaboration between the users of the site.
Open innovation is a method of cooperation which involves openly sharing your ideas and developing the ideas through sparring and cooperation with people with different skills. The objective is to create better results.
