COMMUNITY SPACE / MEETING POINT / EVENT PLATFORM / MOVING SCULPTURE
New public space in front of Ørestad’s library seeks to break the linear movement on site and to create place for a diverse community.
This proposition suggests a creation of a lattice structure programmed with various layers of activities including the recognisable meeting point in the area, wind shelters that also act as outdoor exhibition display, playground and fluctuating roof comprised of nylon ropes forming catenaries. The part of the structure facing the library could be used as projection screen and stage for summer events and performances.
The principal lattice structure is constructed out of curved galvanized steel pipes, nylon ropes are attached to special connections within the frame.
Wind-sensitive shape of the roof would attract people to witness the natural phenomena. ‘Skyerne’ aims to create a dynamic platform for a diverse community united under the blushing cloud-like structure reminiscent of Bagsværd Kirke’s soft curving surfaces.
